Why Suzuki?

Participation in a Suzuki program requires a big commitment from your entire family.  Why not wait until your child is older and can learn more quickly and independently?

There are several benefits of an early start in a Suzuki program that traditional music lessons cannot provide.

  1. BulletYoung children’s brains are developing the neural connections necessary for learning to hear pitch and perform new physical skills.  Children who start lessons at a very young age develop a better ear and more facility in their fingers than children who start later.

  2. BulletA Suzuki program provides a non-competitive atmosphere in which students develop a love for music and confidence in their skills.  There are no chair tests or contests in a Suzuki program.  Instead, students are motivated by a supportive social atmosphere and the examples of older students in the program.

  3. BulletChildren who start performing at a young age are less likely to suffer from stage fright than children who begin performing later.

  4. BulletA Suzuki program provides both individual instruction, tailored to the needs of each child, and group instruction, to create a fun social atmosphere and to practice ensemble skills.

  5. BulletSuzuki lessons provide a great opportunity for a parent and child to spend time together each day in an activity that is challenging, fun and rewarding.

  6. BulletSuzuki teachers believe that every child can learn music, and that music education is valuable to all children.  Dr. Suzuki called his teaching method “talent education” because he believed that all children are born with the potential to develop a high musical ability.
